Overview Title: Abstracted Identity
Size: 15.3 cm x 22.8 cm Medium: Black Ink on Carved Linoleum Block Date: September 2022 Exhibition Text
¨Abstracted Identity¨ is a representation of being unsure of your identity, and your place in the world. The person is looking in the mirror and can't see any realistic parts on their face because they're unsure of who they are. My piece was heavily inspired by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's pieces Conversations and Head of Prof. Dr. Graef. These both showcase abstract portraits with bold lines and exaggerated features. My piece was also inspired by Pablo Picasso's piece Girl Before a Mirror and Edvard Munch's piece The Scream.
